With over 1 lakh 5G BTS deployed, India has the fastest 5G rollout

Telecom operators are deploying over 2,500 base stations per week for 5G, according to Devusinh Chauhan(Minister of state for communications)

According to the most recent information made available by the Department of Telecommunications, telecom providers had installed 1,02,215 5G BTSs (base transceiver stations) nationwide as of March 5, 2023.

Telecom operators are deploying over 2,500 base stations per week for 5G, according to Devusinh Chauhan(Minister of state for communications) in his December 2022 report to Parliament. 20,980 base stations had been built as on November 26, according to data supplied by the MoS in Rajya Sabha.

The Department of Telecommunications recently revealed data on 5G BTS deployment, which indicates that as of March 5, 2023, India had around 1,02,215 5G BTS deployed in total. Out of which, with15,394 BTS, Mahrashtra had the most 5G BTS deployments, preceded by Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, Gujarat and Tamil Nadu.

Since the launch of the 5G technology in India, in both 5G standalone and 5G non-standalone networks in October 2022, the leading two telecommunications providers in the nation, Jio and Airtel have introduced their 5G services in over 500 cities so far.

With adding 27 more cities to its list on Tuesday this week, Jio's True 5G services are now available in 331 cities and Airtel on the other hand, recently announced its largest-ever 5G rollout with the introduction of its Airtel 5G Plus services in 125 cities together, bringing the availability to over 265 cities. Of the total 20, 980 base stations deployed in November last year, Reliance Jio and Bharti Airtel had respectively installed 17, 687 and 3,293 base stations.
