How has been your revenue growth in FY11?
FY11 was exciting and challenging for us-we completed the commercial rollout of Tata DOCOMO 3G services across 18 circles, and in November 2010, Tata DOCOMO became the first to launch 3G services across all 9 circles where TTSL won the license.
Our steady growth is attributable to our innovative products and services, and transparent tariff options. Another strategy that clicked for us is strong focus on social media outreach and the use of digital space for customer acquisition. On the data business, we are the clear market leaders with Tata Photon Plus and the 3G e-stick.
How many 3G subscribers do you have, and what are your future plans?
Tata DOCOMO currently has over 1.5 mn subscribers on its 3G network and this number is growing steadily. The service is already available in 110 cities and we are adding more cities in a phased manner. We expect a sizable proportion of our data customers to adopt 3G in the ongoing fiscal year and our endeavor is to expand our 3G reach.
Where do you stand on MNP with respect to number of port-ins?
We have done well in the MNP arena and are leading in port-ins in some circles. We have always been strong advocates of MNP and are sure that our cutting-edge technology and network will help us not only retain customers, but also gain the position of operator of choice in the new regime.
What percentage of overall revenue does VAS contribute?
VAS accounts for between 11-12% of the average mobile operator's revenue; TTSL has always enjoyed a far greater revenue share in this space.
What is the number of broadband subscribers in FY11?
Currently we have close to 50% market share in the mobile wireless data segment and are posting healthy growth. Our data services on the CDMA platform are seeing an upward surge in all 200 cities and towns where it is currently available.
What are your strategies for the enterprise segment?
The enterprise business contributes around 18-20% of the overall telecom industry revenues, a large part of which comes from top corporates and SMEs. At Tata Teleservices, we expect to grow faster this year by creating unique domain solutions that differentiate us from the incumbents in this space.
