How strategic has the acquisition by Logitech been to LifeSize since 2009?
LifeSize is on a constant growth since the acquisition. Across the globe manpower has been increased to 500 people. The acquisition has made us strong on technological front, both Logitech and LifeSize are providing mainstream high-quality video. We are able to bring together Logitech's webcam to our connect products and we are shipping it since last quarter. We are able to compete with better pricing quality in the market.
LifeSize has launched a HD video cloud solution in the market. Logitech acquired-SightSpeed in 2007, Paradial AS, a Norway based provider of firewall and network address translation (NAT) traversal solutions for video communication in July 2010 and Mirial, a Milan based provider of desktop and mobile video conferencing solutions over IP, 3G, and IMS networks in July 2011; these companies are integrated into LifeSize division and are assets. Today, LifeSize has emerged as a broadest supporter of mobile devices, which would have been hard by not being a part of the Logitech's family.
Please elaborate on your international expansion.
Video communications market is currently $3 bn industry and it's growing at a rate of 15-20%. It's growing rapidly in the emerging markets like APAC. Until recently, LifeSize did not have the presence in other markets. We would like to be as large as we can, especially in the emerging markets.
We cannot divulge the investment but we doubled our investment last year in the Asian market. We see this as an important market going forward. India is our second largest R&D center in the world.
Who are the trend-setters in the video communications market?
Key trends include mobility, cloud computing, virtualization, and simplification. Cost-effective solutions which are more easier to use and easier to connect are also driving.
How would the recently launched HD video conferencing infrastructure drive real adoption?
LifeSize has fundamentally changed the way businesses deploy infrastructure, unlocking the door to real adoption and growth in the video conferencing industry. The video adoption has slowed down because of the complication and as it is expensive. The LifeSize UVC platform is scalable and customizable, removing the cost, risk, and complexity of fixed-capacity hardware, which often requires a larger up-front purchase than required. The UVC platform provides an integrated, simple, and flexible solution that allows companies to buy what they need today and scale it as they go. Therefore it cuts the overall cost.
What is the pricing of UVC platform?
The LifeSize UVC platform is globally available at $3,999 with infrastructure applications such as UVC video center, transit server, transit client, and access.
