Tell us about your company and your Indian operations?

Tyco Electronics Corporation is one of the major business units of Tyco
International. It is the largest passive electronic components manufacturer in
the world, and manufactures and markets electrical and electronic connectors,
wire harness, cables and fiber optic interconnection systems, RF and wireless
interconnection systems. We are working closely with Fibcom, HFCL, ITI and C-DoT,
among others. We have design setups in India for connector system, cable
assembly and tool design. Our strategic tooling center for global partners is
located at Kochi. We also have manufacturing units in Bangalore, Pune, Delhi and
Mumbai.

Are you looking at acquisitions in India?

We believe in growth through acquisitions, we have acquired 250 companies
worldwide in the last three years. We are talking to a couple of Indian
technology companies who can bring in some competencies, which are vital for our
business.

Is the overall slowdown and slow rollout of networks in
the country, having an impact on your overall business?

We see no impact of slowdown whatsoever and in fact, we see
our business growing in India. We have a very large installed base in India,
which is increasing rapidly, as we have wide product range across technologies.

How do you foresee the demand for your products?

We foresee a huge demand for our range of products in India.
The rollout of new broadband networks by several players are going to fuel the
demand. Besides, on the wireless infrastructure front too, there are many
activities and we have products catering to this segment as well.
