How will the Rohde & Schwarz entry into the oscilloscope market add to the
T&M portfolio of the company?
With the introduction of oscilloscopes, the company is expanding its
portfolio of test and measurement equipment. Our customers expect us to offer a
complete line of products, and that includes oscilloscopes. By this addition we
will be able to address almost 80% of the test instrument market from our own
product range. It will also offer better choices to our customers to get all
their test equipment from a single source. We believe this is an important step
towards our aim of playing a more influential role in T&M market globally.
What are the company's plan to capture the Indian market?
We are already #2 player in India for T&M products in the 'wireless' domain.
Our past experience in the Indian market when we introduced spectrum analyzers
makes us very confident of the success of our new oscilloscope family. Today, we
enjoy a market share of more than 35% for spectrum analyzers in India from zero
presence some years ago. This was achieved by offering innovative quality
products and outstanding customer support. We expect to follow the same success
story in oscilloscope market as well.
What is the contribution of revenue from India operations in your global
revenue figures?
Our Indian operation currently contributes about 3% to our global revenue.
However, India is an important market for us as it has a potential of becoming
one of the biggest markets in the world. The demand for test and measurement is
steadily growing. This is the reason why Rohde & Schwarz provides Rohde &
Schwarz India its own subsidiary with service, support and engineering
capabilities.
Rohde & Schwarz has a vast portfolio in the T&M in over seventy countries.
Which is the main product of focus in India?
Rohde & Schwarz offers in T&M a product portfolio targeting on all wireless
and non-wireless standards. We are able to offer solutions from DC up to more
than 500 GHz. So we can supply equipment for all applications covering R&D,
production as well as the service and installation markets. The major
instruments sold in these segments are signal generators, spectrum analyzers,
EMI receivers, radio testers, voltmeters, power meters and audio analyzers. The
biggest contributors to our revenue in India are spectrum analyzers, microwave
signal generators and EMC test instrumentation/systems. Besides T&M, we also
have products in other electronic business fields, like broadcasting, radio
monitoring, radio location and secured radio communication.
