Wartsila launch Information Managment center in Mumbai

Wartsila India has established Information Management Competence Center in Kesar Solitaire, Navi Mumbai to extend ICT activities in Wartsila. The center will be headed by D. Govindrao, associate VP. Wartsila has chosen India based on the long IT sourcing tradition, language skills, adaptive IT work culture and large and affordable resource pool, stated a release.

Rakesh Sarin, MD of Wartsilä India said, “Wärtsila IM works as a customer centric organization and enables and supports the company to provide lifecycle power solutions to enhance the business of our customers whilst creating better technologies that benefit both the customers and the environment.”

He further added, “Wärtsilä is a thought leader in the power sector and has been instrumental in changing the dynamics of the industry in India. It is through innovative products and services; we set out to be the most valued business partner of all our customers.”

Jukka Ponsi, general manager Information Management, Wartsila Corporation stated, “To enable flexible and efficient delivery of mature IM operations, Wärtsilä had decided to establish two competence centers --in India (early 2011) and in China (2008). The Competence Centre will mainly deliver general application development, master data management and operational purchasing services. The Centre in India is a very vital and important part of the global IM in Wärtsila.

The new IM seeks alignment with the business strategies in portfolios, competencies and locations as well as sustainable costs reduction through better use of existing assets, lower supplier costs, clear responsibilities, dedicated competence centers and more accurate delivery.

The services provided globally from Competence Centre India at this stage will include the development and level 2/3 support of all non-engineering applications, Master data management, ICT equipment operative purchasing, Authorizations management and Infrastructure services including servers, databases and networks. The Competence Centre caters to more than 17000 users spread across more than 70 countries, added the release.
