IBM India has made available a secure virtual private network (VPN) for independent software vendors (ISVs) and business partners, to provide remote countrywide access to its IBM innovation center for business partners and enable them to remotely access test environments with the confidence that all transmissions are secure.
The VPN will allow ISVs and business partners to access IBM's centers from within their own offices, eliminating travel costs, benefiting from the expertise of top engineers, and increasing the number of products tested. In using remote access during porting and testing, ISVs will also gain valuable insight into how their applications perform over the Internet.
The service is the result of IBM's collaboration with V-ONE Corporation and Cisco Systems. The VPN service will support porting and testing exercises using Linux, Windows, Solaris, and AIX remote clients underscoring IBM's commitment to ISVs and business partners on one hand and open standards and cross-platform computing, on the other.
The pilot was successfully tested with IBM ISV, Subex Systems. Early this year, the SPC (solution partnership center) was renamed as the IBM innovation center for business partners, as a part of the innovation center initiative. The new secure VPN is available at select IBM innovation centers.
