More Indian telecom circles now offer Wi-Fi calling thanks to Vodafone Idea (Vi). Vi added Wi-Fi calling to two more circles this time around, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, with an emphasis on the Southern region of the nation. These two circles have now been added to the list of circles that support Vi VoWi-Fi calling. Users can make crystal-clear calls using Wi-Fi calling even when they are inside their houses and have poor network connectivity. Users must have a solid Wi-Fi connection in order to make Wi-Fi calls with respectable quality.

Additionally, not all smartphones can make Wi-Fi calls. The list of smartphones that can handle Wi-Fi calling is continuously updated by Vodafone Idea. You can check it on the telco's website.

Delhi, Kolkata, Gujarat, Rajasthan, UP East, UP West, Mumbai, Maharashtra & Goa, West Bengal, Haryana, Kerala, Karnataka, Bihar, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, and Andhra Pradesh are all locations where Vodafone Idea's Wi-Fi calling is supported.

Customers of Vodafone Idea who reside in the aforementioned parts of India will be able to use the VoWi-Fi calling support to place high-quality calls even when they are in areas with subpar networks. In the latter half of 2023, the telecom will continue to broaden the coverage of its Wi-Fi calling. Wi-Fi calling is already nearly universally available from its rivals.

But the list of locations where Vodafone Idea's Wi-Fi calling capability is available does not include some of the larger circles, such MP & CG, Assam, and more.

The government currently holds the greatest stake in the corporation following the conversion of Vodafone Idea’s outstanding interest debt of Rs 16,133 crore into equity was given the government’s approval. With this conversion, the promotions’ ownership has dropped to 50% from 74.99% and the government now holds 33.14% of the cash-strapped telecom company that is struggling under a debt load of over Rs 2 lakh crore. Government rescue measures for debt-ridden telecom businesses were adopted in 2021, enabling them to convert interest on deferred adjusted gross revenue owed to the government into equity.

Currently, 5G services are being launched in Indian cities by two leading telecom behemoths, Reliance Jio and Bharti Airtel. Both the major telecom companies , Jio and Airtel, recently announced that they have fulfilled their minimum roll-out commitments in all 22 telecom circles and across all frequency bands. Although Vi purchased spectrum for 17 circles at the 5G spectrum auctions, only one circle has had 5G testing confirmed. As a result, the telco has fallen short of the government’s minimum deployment requirement set forth in the Notice Inviting Application (NIA) for the 2022 5G spectrum auction.
