n The Vodafone Foundation has relaunched the 'World of Difference'' programme in association with DASRA, a philanthropy foundation.
The programme allows a person to donate to his chosen charity, and get paid for his time.
Twenty Vodafone employees have been selected to work with a dedicated NGO for a period of five weeks. Many amongst the selected employees will leave their home, family and friends to travel far and wide to use their skills for a charitable cause in a completely new environment.
One of the employee Chetan Chauhan, deputy manager of the customer service enterprise team, Vodafone India will leave his home in Ahmedabad, Gujarat and will base himself in the Latur district of Maharashtra.
''Our NGO partners will benefit greatly from an additional resource which is a huge advantage in current economic times,'' said Laura Turkington, director, Vodafone India Foundation.
''The impact of professional mentoring is immense, as it gives non-profit organisations access to incredible business expertise. This thereby enables them to build stronger organisations which can create greater impact,'' said Deval Sanghavi, CEO, DASRA.
The Vodafone India foundation, registered in 2008 as a public charitable trust was set up with an initial investment from the Vodafone foundation UK.
