Trai Seeks Feedback on Unified License

Trai has released a preliminary consultation paper seeking written comments from the stakeholders (industry and consumers) suggesting modalities for unified license. A detailed consultation paper will be issued after receiving the inputs from telecom companies, industry associations and consumer organizations. Trai has asked for comments over issues such as the ambit and type of unified licensing, services area, entry fee and license fee. Other issues on which comments are sought include registration charges, roll out obligation, business case of existing service providers especially stand-alone operators, interconnection and number portability issues.
