The Telecom Regulatory authority of India(TRAI) has increased the limit of 100 SMS per day, per sim to 200 after receiving abundant representations from the service providers and consumers to increase the limit.
The regulator recently under the 'Telecom Commercial Communications Customer Preference Regulations' imposed a restriction on Access providers, so as not to permit sending of more than one hundred SMS per day per sim, except for telemarketers or transactional message sending entity like banks and other financial institutions. The ban created a lot of hue and cry amongst service providers, VAS players as well as consumers.
With this the monthly limit of sending SMS too has increased from 3000 to 6000 SMS per month.
