Advertisment

TRAI has prescribed additional measures on the guidelines on blackout days, recently. TRAI had earlier mentioned that the number of blackout days should not exceed five days in a calendar year. It has directed operators to intimate consumers about the blackout days. It has also said operators to display the list of blackout days on the operators' website for the calendar year.

The term 'blackout days' are refered to the days on which service providers do not allow free or concessional voice calls or SMS offered by them under any plan or package.
