Professor Goyal said TEMA is happy at the use of indigenous technology 5G Trials. "TEMA is particularly happy that CDOT technology for 5G is also proposed to be deployed by one of the TSPs", he said.

Professor Goyal also expressed TEMA's belief that India can take the lead in 5G technology. "TEMA believes that India can take lead in 5G technology and lead to AtmaNirbhar Bharat" he said. He also said that adopting Open RAN technology will help achieve that.

Furthermore, he called on the PM to decide that Indian telcos should work on domestically-developed 5G technology.

"TEMA would like to request the Hon’ble PM to take a decision that Indian companies should work on 5G and Open RAN", he said. Further, he added, "only domestically developed OPEN RAN technology would be deployed in 5G".

Furthermore, he talked about FDI laws in the country to define what is domestic. "Here care must be taken that existing Indian laws permit 100% FDI in telecom manufacturing, hence 100% FDI owned companies manufacturing in India are deemed domestic", he said on the matter.
