According to telecom regulator TRAI, the gross revenue of telecom service companies rose 5.7 per cent to Rs 57,378 crore in Q4FY14 as against Rs 54,283.78 crore in the corresponding period a year ago.
At the same time, mobile phone service providers reported a gross revenue of Rs 55,164.18 crore.
Bharti Airtel reported the highest gross revenue at Rs 17,226 crore, followed by Vodafone India at Rs 8,630.44 crore, Idea Cellular at Rs 8,232.5 crore.
BSNL reported a gross revenue of Rs 7,564.32 crore, RCom Rs 4,197.6 crore, Tata Teleservices Rs 3,348.21 crore, Aircel Rs 3,041.83 crore, MTNL Rs 1,052 crore and Uninor Rs 1,049.57 crore.
Videocon Telecom's posted a gross revenue of Rs 378.43 crore, Sistema Shyam at Rs 318.66 crore and Loop Mobile at Rs 121.99 crore.
The adjusted gross revenue during the quarter rose by about 10 per cent to Rs 38,842.8 crore from Rs 35,279.5 crore. The government gets paid license fees and spectrum charges on the basis of adjusted gross revenue.
Telecom service providers jointly paid license fees of Rs 3,110.71 crore, which is about nine per cent higher than a year earlier. Spectrum charges paid to the government increased by about eight per cent to Rs 1,442.94 crore in the period.
Airtel paid Rs 1,444.55 crore toward both licence fees and spectrum charges; Vodafone paid Rs 736.36 crore and Idea Cellular Rs 733.78 crore. BSNL paid Rs 542.72 crore, RCom Rs 297.54 crore, Tata Teleservices Rs 253.32 crore and Aircel Rs 227.76 crore.
Earlier TRAI data indicated that mobile operator Idea Cellular is the best performer when it comes to revenue market share. It has registered a 1.3% increase in its revenue market share (RMS) in FY14.
In Q4FY14, Idea recorded an increase of 0.5% in RMS to 16.6% which makes it the best performing operator in India.
The telecom firm posted 18.6% growth in Y-o-Y revenue in FY14, while the industry grew by 9.3%. On a quarterly basis, the industry grew at 2.5% in revenue, while Idea’s rose by 5.7%.
TRAI revealed that country’s first largest operator Bharti Airtel has a 30.5% market share followed by Vodafone with a 23.4% share. The three operators have a total market share of 70.4% in Q4FY14.
