Telecom advisory panels dissolved

The DoT dissolved all the Telephone Advisory Committees (TAC) This will mean a saving of Rs 20 crore per annum for the government. These committees worked at district, state and national levels. The main idea of starting TAC was to get gauge the public views about the working of the telecom network. The ministry had a feeling that these committees were misused for political mileage instead of doing its intended job. There are 16,000 TAC members in the country.
