Tele2 on Wednesday signed a national roaming agreement with Telenor Norway for all brands within the Tele2 Group. The agreement includes 2G, 3G, and 4G coverage.
Telenor Norway's CEO Berit Svendsen and Tele2 Norway's CEO Arild Hustad signed the agreement concerning national roaming on Telenor's network for Tele2's customers in the Norwegian market.
"This is a clear confirmation that Telenor's superb coverage, network capacity, and security is valued by other mobile companies in Norway. We are happy to have reached an agreement with Tele2 on national roaming," said Berit Svendsen, CEO of Telenor Norway.
"The agreement concerning national roaming on Telenor's network will come into force from 1 July and will apply to the brands Tele2, One Call, My Call and Network Norway. The contract is based on the standard agreement concerning national roaming," a release said.
"We are pleased to have finalised a good and flexible agreement with Telenor. This deal will help to ensure that all our customers receive 4G and the best services, whether they are on our network or on Telenor's network," said Arild Hustad, CEO of Tele2 Norway.
The agreement covers 2G, 3G, and 4G coverage, and Tele2′s customers will have the option to pay for access to higher data speeds.
"We are pleased that Tele2 has chosen Telenor, and regard it as an appreciation for our mobile network and our expansion plans. The development of a high-capacity nationwide mobile network in Norway requires huge financial resources. This agreement with Tele2 ensures efficient use of resources, particularly in low-density geographic regions," said Svendsen.
Tele2′s brands Network Norway, One Call, and My Call are already part of a national roaming agreement with Telenor.
In addition, national roaming involves customers who have a relationship with a specific mobile network (home network) being moved onto a partner network when their home network has insufficient available coverage. Tele2 has, in partnership with Network Norway, developed Norway's third-largest mobile network during recent years. Network Norway is a wholly owned subsidiary of Tele2 AB.
