Techcom ventures into Indian mobile market

The last couple of years might have seen various new entrants making a beeline to join the Indian mobile handset market, and the latest to join the bandwagon is the IT peripherals and consumer electronics firm Techcom India. With highly affordable price range of Rs 1,500 to 4,000, the company claims to offer innovative line of seven models of handsets. Techcom unveiled its seven models namely, T21, T31, T33, T51, T55, T60 and TQ21 in the national capital recently. The company announced that it will invest Rs 100 crore in promotion of its brand in the Indian market and expects to capture 2 to 3 per cent of market share in the country.

The newly unveiled mobile handsets are dual SIM basic sets with unique features like three hours support to watch films at one go, that make it stand out in competition to any other mobile phone in the segment. Techcom is currently importing its handsets from china but however plans to set up manufacturing plant in India in the next 12 to 24 months. The brand offers 100 distributors and around 5000 retailers in India. With a pan India presence of its offices and distributors, the brand aims to penetrate the Indian mobile market extensively in the next six months.

TechCom is amongst the top brands in computer hardware and consumer electronics in the country with its products being sold in over 30 countries worldwide, broadly Nepal, Algeria, UAE, Lebanon, Kenya, Nigeria, Middle-East, Uzbekistan and others. With a turnover of Rs 157 crore, the company has witnessed a 30 per cent CAGR over last three years.
