Tech Mahindra launches South Africa subsidiary

Tech Mahindra has announced the launch of Tech Mahindra South Africa in partnership with Falcorp.

The launch of Tech Mahindra South Africa follows the announcement in 2011 to reinforce its leadership and focus across its African operations. The newly formed company will be a Level 3 Broad-Based Black Economic Empowered (B-BBEE) company.

Tech Mahindra South Africa will help create local job opportunities and invest heavily in skills development, and employment equity, over a period of 6-12 months. As part of the B-BEEE strategy, the company will target to have 65 percent in local preferential procurement, a corporate social investment plan as well as a leadership and internship programme. A dedicated talent exchange program for the transfer of skills between India and South Africa will also be initiated.

Building on its commitment to bring the latest solution to the market, company will bring its full range of network and mobility offerings (inclusive of design, building, implementing and support for the telecoms sector), to the African ICT sector. The offering of analytics for any business application including mobility, cloud and security solutions also forms part of its strategy.

Tech Mahindra and Mahindra Satyam together employ close to 300 associates in South Africa.

"As the whole region moves towards recovering from the impact left by the recent economic downturn, local telecom providers have demonstrated a key shift in their IT spending practices. We intend to bring in our expertise around NMACS (network, mobility, analytics, cloud,and security) with traditional application support and development to our customers in the region," said Girish Bhat, vice president -sales and operations, MEA, Tech Mahindra.
