TE Connectivity (TE), introduces Distributed Antenna Systems (DAS) in India to help mobile operators in deploying small base stations and boost 3G and 4G services.
DAS is said to ease the process of migration, spectrum re-farming without re-designing the Radio Access Network (RAN). It comes wih simulcast capabilities which enables to shape coverage and maximize capacity utilization and makes the efficient use of radio resources.
"DAS can deliver multiple frequency bands in a single system over a given area, unlike picocells and microcells, which are often restricted to one or two frequency bands. Changes to network configuration for capacity management do not require physical RAN site visits," claimed a statement.
“DAS is a proven solution for extending coverage and capacity throughout venues and outdoor areas of all sizes,” said K K Shetty, director, Enterprise, Telecom & Wireless Networks, TE Connectivity — India & SAARC. He added, “By combining DAS with small base stations, mobile operators can get the best of both worlds — the reach, backhaul efficiency and spectral efficiency of DAS with the right-sized capacity of a small base station.”
