Tata Teleservices is planning to set up nearly 4,000 wi-fi hot spots in nine cities across the country in the next two years.
The company expects a huge rise in internet usage on the back of year-on-year doubling of smartphone devices in India.
"From about 1 lakhs log-ins in April last year, we now have 4.4 lakhs logins, where the average time spent in each session is 40 minutes. So roughly, we've clocked 35 mn minutes of usage as of January, up from 18 mn minutes in April," said Avinash Gabriel, chief operations officer of the wi-fi business at Tata Teleservices .
