Sterlite Technologies has bagged a contract from BSNL for the deployment of a central office broadband system in telecom circles across the country. The deal size is valued at about Rs. 114 crore. This is also a part of the total bank of new orders received by Sterlite since July 2011 is valued at about Rs 560 crore.
Under the contract, the Company would install and commission the system within the financial year 2013 and would manage this network for seven years thereafter. The system, once completed, would be capable of handling about 1.6 million broadband connections.
