Sony Ericsson's loss to impact Ericsson's Q4 result

The loss of 247 million Euro in the fourth quarter of Sony Ericsson will impact Ericsson's operating income with 1.1 billion Swedish Krona (SEK).

The loss of Sony Ericsson reflected intense competition, price erosion and restructuring charges. The results were influenced by unfavorable macro economic conditions and effects from the flooding in Thailand.

Ericsson holds 50 percent of the shares in the joint venture, 'Sony Ericsson' and its income before taxes amounts to SEK -1.1 b. in the quarter.

On October 27, 2011, it was announced that Sony will acquire Ericsson's 50 percent share of Sony Ericsson. The transaction is expected to take place late January to February 2012, and as a part it, Ericsson will receive a cash consideration of Euro 1.05 billion.

Ericsson will be present its fourth quarter and full year 2011 report on January 25, 2011.
