Sony Ericsson launch T68i Multimedia Phones in India

In their first co-branded launch, the 50:50 joint venture between Sony and Ericsson introduced their multi-media featured phone- the T68i along with an accessory, the CommuniCam MCA-20. T68I is a GPRS phone with multimedia-messaging phone and color imaging solutions. It is also Bluetooth enabled that allows one to transfer images to another phone and connects wirelessly to headsets, PCs and other Bluetooth enabled peripherals. Using the phone one can download colored images, cartoons and icons from the net. CommuniCam MCA-20 is a small digital camera that can be connected to the T68I to enable full VGA resolution pictures that can be sent from the phone to another or even as an e-mail. The camera can store upto a maximum of 200 pictures depending on the size. Pictures taken can even be used on the display of the handset. T68i is available in an Artic Blue color and is priced at Rs 25,995 while the camera is priced at Rs 7,995.

"India is an important market in the Asia Pacific region, and we intend to make it number one here. To drive new usage habits we are introducing cutting edge applications and content in the area of imaging, messaging and entertainment", said Claes Svensson, VP (Marketing), Asia Pacific, Sony Ericsson Mobile Communications. "In the next 5 years to come, we intend to be number one in the global market place, through gradual value additions to the products", he added. 

Sony India will retail the entire range of Sony Ericsson mobile phones, including the existing Ericsson and Sony phones through Sony World retail outlets countrywide. The company would also retail their products through Salora International. The companies would continue selling their existing brands like Ericsson's A3618, T65, T66 and R 380 and Sony's CMD-Z7 and CMD-J70. The other two Sony Ericsson products that would be launched in the third quarter are the P800, a multi-media phone and the Z700, a gaming phone, each with Bluetooth and high imaging capabilities.
