Sony enters tablet market with S & P Model

Sony India has forayed into Android tablet category with the launch of Sony tablets S & P.

Priced at Rs 33,990 and Rs 36,990 for the 3G + Wi-Fi version, the tablet S & tablet P will be available across 500 stores in India starting mid-January 2012.

Both the tablets comes pre-installed with apps including- Videochaska, Starplayer, BigFlix, BollywoodHungama.com and Meragana.com.

''Sony Tablet exemplifies our strategy of combining hardware, software and network services. It offers customers a device which meets their demand for seamless, on-the-go access to the internet, digital entertainment content and social networking services,'' said Masaru Tamagawa, MD, Sony India on the launchof tablets in the Indian market.

The S tablet has a wedge-shape, similar to a magazine that’s been folded over, which provides a balanced feel, as well as a sense of lightness. While the dual screen design of tablet P provides optimized entertainment experience and portability. The user can watch video on one screen while using the other to control it, or check e-mail while using the other screen as a keyboard.

''Powered with the latest Android operating system, it is built to appeal to a cross section of users from avid gamers, busy professionals, thrill-seeking youngsters or multi-tasking homemakers,'' said Hideyuki Furumi, deputy president, VAIO & mobile business group, Sony Corp.

The company claims that the tablets respond instantly and accurately to every touch, drag, zoom, or twist of the fingers and offer both Quick view and Quick touch capabilities. With Quick view and Quick touch, the websites loads faster and scroll quickly and smoothly, HD Flash video playback is more fluid, and even the latest games featuring advanced high resolution graphics are handled with ease.

The tablets are the first series of PlayStation certified tablets on which games for PlayStation certified devices including original PlayStation games can be played, and popular titles such as ''Crash Bandicoot'' and ''Pinball Heroes'' come preinstalled.

The tablets also comes with the feature of wirelessly connecting to DLNA compatible devices, including BRAVIA televisions, allowing users tp transfer there personal photos and videos on the big television screen with the touch of a button. A built-in infrared sensor also allows the Tablet S to function as a remote control for any number of devices.
