SingTel Global (India) plans to build five more Point of Presence (Pops) in Ahmedabad, Jaipur, Chandigarh and two more cities in the next two years.
"We may come up with 5 more PoPs (Ahmedabad, Jaipur, Chandigarh and two more cities) in the next 2 years depending on the growing demand," confirms Arun Dagar, MD, SingTel India.
SingTel has two international gateways, one in Chennai and the other one in Mumbai as if now. Company has both NLD and ILD licenses. They have a resilient network with 7 dual PoPs in Pune, Mumbai, Chennai, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Delhi and Kolkata connected in a mesh network.
"We are focusing on Indian businesses who are expanding globally especially into the APAC region for we have the managed connectivity infrastructure in place besides experienced people who are well versed with local business environment and languages," said Donny Cheah, regional managing director.
Indian businesses are expanding globally so the demand for international connectivity is increasing. The country has around 50 people and plans are to increase it to 100 by 2013-14 says Dagar.
For Indian region, the company has been focusing on verticals like: IT/ITeS, BFSI, manufacturing, logistics and pharmaceutical/healthcare in Indian region. The company also has telco customers in India like Aircel, Vodafone, Tata, Sify and Tulip.
