In its bid to offer video and audio conferencing solutions in India, Siemens has announced its strategic partnership with Italian videoconferencing player Aethra

The marketing and distribution-focused alliance will offer video conferencing solutions to segments such as the education, tele-medicine, e-governance, defense, and the residential and broadcasting area as well.
Siemens currently has 25 percent market share in the audio and video conferencing solutions market in India," informed, Peter Gartenberg, executive vice-president, Siemens (Enterprise Networks Division).
The launched Aethra solutions range from video telephones, portable systems to high-end conferencing room systems and codecs for custom-built conferencing rooms. These conferencing solutions are suitable to work on both IP and the traditional ISDN networks.
Priced at around Rs 50,000, the 'Theseus' videophone is designed for the residential segment. The 'Vega Pro, with its plug and play caters to medium business user and the 'Vega Star' series is ideally placed for customers demanding superior picture quality and collaborative tools and multi-location conferencing capabilities.
These video-conferencing solutions, marketed by Siemens, are being priced between Rs 50,000 up to Rs 8 lakh and would be made available through its existing channel network.
Aethra also has some small marketing driven partnerships with companies like CG Digital and SEC Communication in the Indian region.
