Shivakumar gets new global role

Nokia has announced the appointment of D. Shivakumar as the Head for India, Middle East and Africa, one of the four newly formed global sales regions. The company has announced the consolidation of its eight sales regions into four and these will include; Americas, which covers North and South America; Asia-Pacific, with SEAP and China; Europe, which consists of Europe and Eurasia; and IMEA, which consists of India, Middle East and Africa.
As part of reorganization, D. Shivakumar, Vice President and Managing Director, Nokia India has been promoted to a Senior Vice President role and in this capacity he will be responsible for the India Middle East & Africa region. Shiv's new role will be effective January, 2012 and he will relocate to Dubai which has been chosen as the hub for the region.
This announcement is part of Nokia's strategy to take additional actions to align its workforce and support the execution of the company's strategy and bring efficiencies and speed to the organization.

Shiv has done a phenomenal job of leading its operations and has been instrumental in driving some key innovations and brand building initiatives out of India. I am confident he will use his rich experience to continue to grow our business in India, as well as the Middle East and Africa,” said, Colin Giles, Executive Vice President, Sales, Nokia Corporation.
