Sequans unveils new LTE chips

Sequans Communications has introduced new FDD and TDD LTE baseband chips.The launched baseband and RF chips comprise one of two platforms which the company has designed for two market segments.

The platform 'Andromeda' is customized for the design of handsets and tablets, while the second one 'Mont Blanc' has been customized for the design of mobile hotspots, USB dongles and CPE modems.

''These platforms are based on our second generation LTE technology, incorporating the latest advances in LTE semiconductor science and reflecting our many years of experience in 4G, working with operators and manufacturers all over the world. Our new LTE platforms are comprehensive supporting all global TDD and FDD networks from 700MHz to above 3.5 GHz,'' said Georges Karam, CEO, Sequans on the launch.

The chips launched by the company include-SQN3110 FDD/LTE baseband system on chip; SQN3120 FDD/LTE baseband system on chip; SQN5110 FDD/TDD LTE and WiMAX dual-mode baseband system-on-chip; SQN3140 RFIC for TDD LTE devices.

The company has also established an agreement with Fujitsu Semiconductor, underwhich Fujitsu's 2G/3G/LTE RF solution is combined with Sequans LTE baseband solutions.
