SC Allows COAI to Withdraw Petition

The Supreme Court has allowed the COAI to withdraw its appeal challenging the Union government's decision to implement the unified license regime and grant
WLL operation licenses to basic operators. The COAI had on January 6 sought withdrawal of their case against WLL services and the unified license regime, following an over Rs 960-crore package with extra incentives to the cellular firms. COAI had challenged the unified license regime saying it was done to favor one of the basic operators and the grant of licenses to basic operators to offer limited mobility was against the National Telecom Policy.
