Sasken Communication Technologies Limited has announced that its GSM/GPRS Class B Protocol Stack, as part of a mobile handset solution, was tested and found compliant to GCF (Global Conformance Forum) requirements for FTA (Full Type Approval). FTA is an international regulatory approval required before a solution is deployed in a device to be used on wireless networks. Protocol Stack is the critical software component that controls the communication between the device and the network.
Sasken claims to be the first Indian company to achieve the distinction of gaining a global telecom regulatory approval for a telecom software product from GCF. "We are progressing towards market acceptance for our GSM/GPRS stack which is now ready to be deployed in end consumer devices. FTA approval is a significant milestone in the journey to maturity of our stack," said Murlikrishnan G, Vice President and Head of the Wireless Protocol Stacks Business Division.
Sasken's stack was tested for GCF compliance at a leading European test laboratory in Germany. The solution cleared tests as per the latest GCF Specification (version 3.8.1) for GSM and GPRS. The stack is available for licensing to silicon manufacturers, wireless ODMs and terminal equipment manufacturers.
