Samsung unveils Wave Y smartphone

Samsung Electronics has launched Samsung Wave Y, its new smartphone based on the Bada 2.0 operating system.

Wave Y (S5380) is targeted at genY and allows them to easily remain connected, be socially active as well as personalize the device as per their requirements.

''This device not only meets these needs of Gen Y but allows them to personalize the phone to match their personality and provides them with a richer, more intuitive smartphone experience. We are very confident that this device will catch the imagination of our young consumers,'' said Ranjit Yadav, country head, mobile and IT, samsung India.

The phone along with the Bada 2.0 platform comprises of a 832 MHz processor for multitasking. It also has a 3.2'' HGVA screen offering a crystal clear view. The sleek device has a thickness of 12.3 mm.

The Samsung messenger ''CHATON'' available on the phone introduces a new way to keep in touch as it connects everyone in a single easy chatting service and supports multiple platforms including Android, iPhone OS, bada OS, Blackberry OS etc.

It also supports group chats and multimedia transfers and instead of connecting via user IDs, they can find friends and connect using phone numbers.

Priced at Rs 7,950, the phone offers Wi-Fi 802.11n & BT 3.0 for internet access. The Wi-Fi direct offers direct pairing and data sharing without any AP device and allows for connections to various devices. BT 3.0 allows users to transfer data with other BT devices at the rate of 24 Mbps.
