Subex Systems, engaged in the design, development, implementation, and
support of revenue maximization solutions for telecom, with a niche focus, has
done well in the fiscal 2001-02. Although the company grew by 5.5 percent for a
revenue of Rs 58.3 crore, this was considering the fact that the global telecom
industry was very tough. Subex, which has Ranger, an end-to-end fraud management
system for both wireless and wireline networks; e-Proficio, an electronic
business support system for customer-care functionalities; and Incharge, a
subscriber-level and inter-carrier billing verification system, grew
considerably on the products end. Today, its revenue from products account for
32 percent of the total business as compared to 7 percent in the previous fiscal
2000-01.
In absolute terms, it is about Rs 18.87 crore in the FY 2001-02 and
contributed to 80 percent of the operating profits. Some of the significant wins
during the year were BPL Mobile, Econet Wireless, CYTA, and Sonatel Mobiles.

During the year another important thing it did was acquiring the intellectual
property comprising software codes and licenses of OUTsmart and Incharge from
Magardi Inc, for an aggregate purchase consideration of Rs 1,589.57 lakh,
inclusive of all expenses related to the acquisition.
