Like many others of its ilk, Para mount Communications’ topline was hit by
a decline in demand from the state operators’ downward trend in cable price
and entry of new players.
However, what was positive about the company’s performance in the fiscal
2001-02 was the growth in its bottomline. The company which had grow by 260% in
2001 had to witness a negative growth. Even as its turnover dipped by 16.5
percent, its profit registered a growth of 32.3 percent. The company’s net
profit grew from Rs 4.92 crore in the fiscal 2000-01 to Rs 6.52 crore in
2001-02.
An ISO 9001 company, the company manufactures both copper and optic fiber
cables, and has a strong client base for its copper cables among PSUs.
Paramount has its manufacturing facilities based in Dharuhera and Kurukshetra.
While Dharuhera plant has a manufacturing capacity of 3.85 million conductor km
per annum of PIJF cables, the Kurukshetra facility has a capacity of 16,065 fkm
per annum, and 2.8 million lckm of PIJF cables.

Besides catering to the domestic demand, Paramount Communications also
exported telecom cables to Iraq, Russia, Ukraine, UK Oman, Kuwait, Sri Lanka,
Tanzania, Ghana and Zambia.
