fiscal, Mahindra British Telecom (MBT) grew by 37 percent to register a turnover
of Rs 240.3 crore as compared to Rs 175.2 crore in the previous year. The net
profits increased by 16 percent to Rs 63.03 crore.
MBT is a JV company between Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd and
British Telecom and has development centres in Pune, Mumbai, and London with 14
marketing offices the world over. It also owns a 100-percent subsidiary in the
US–MBT Inc. The company also has strategic alliances with international
business associates whose business expertise covers areas such as banking and
finance, manufacturing, utilities, trading and telecom.

MBT’s customer profile ranges from BT and AT&T to MCI
Worldcom, Alltel Information Systems, Syntegra, and Willet. It has established
Centres of Excellence in Intelligent Network, network management, data
engineering, legacy renewal, modeling and
simulation, e-business, mobility computing and information
appliances.
On the product front, MBT has launched an interconnect billing system for
telecom operators called BT-INCA and Login-2-learn, a web-based e-learning tool.
This year, the company plans to accelerate business in telecom by leveraging on
strengths in telecom operations support systems. Recently, Gartner Group has
rated MBT amongst the top three systems integration and consulting companies in
India.
