New Update

FY 2001-02 has been good for Fibcom as the company grew by around 34 percent
and netted a turnover of Rs 209 crore. On the profits front, the company was
able to have a similar growth which was remarkable, considering the fact that it
was a bad year for most of the corporates.

Focusing on optical transmission, the company provides a suite of products
and turnkey solutions to service providers in the country. The company is very
strong in the PSU segment, say BSNL and MTNL, but has not been able to perform
at a similar level in the private sector. Even in the utilities sector, where
companies like PGCIL, GAIL, and RailTel are active, the company has been unable
to make in-roads as the experience criterion mentioned in the tender document
shuts off all Indian manufacturers to participate in the tender process.

At present, Fibcom is a leading player in India for point-of-interface (PoI)
equipment used by private operators to connect to the incumbent operator
network. Fibcom has already supplied a large number of PoIs to all leading GSM
and basic service operators in the country.
