Fascel
Ltd is a consortium of five companies– the Hinduja Group, Shinwatra of
Thailand, Bezeq of Israel, Kotak Mahindra Finance Ltd, and HFCL.
It posted an estimated turnover of Rs 108 crore as compared
to Rs 52.9 crore in the previous year, showing a phenomenal growth of over
104.16 percent. Its subscriber base stood at 1,09,487, thus becoming the first
company in India to cross the 1,00,000-mark in the non-metro circles. "Celforce"
network covers an area of approximately 6,000 square km and provides
connectivity from Bhuj to Silvassa. It covers Ahmedabad, Mehsana, Gandhinagar,
Nadiad, Baroda, Surat, Bhavnagar, Jamnagar, etc., and plans to extend its
coverage to Porbandar, Amreli, Unjha, and Alang.

In Gujarat, Fascel has been the first to offer short message
service, stock information service, voice mail service, international automatic
roaming in over 28 countries, national roaming in 14 circles, Celsuvidha
pre-paid cards, customized airtime packages, and Celservice dial-in-services. It
has also launched a number of promotional schemes for its pre-paid card
Celsuvidha, whereby every 10th customer making the first call on his new SIM
gets Rs 300 worth of talk-time free.
Fascel plans to offer WAP services in the region and get into rural
telephony. It also plans to foray into ISP business and is currently laying an
optical fibre network spanning 3,500 km across the entire state at a cost of Rs
140 crore.
