New Update

Tektronix India, the T&M and monitoring company providing measurement
solutions in India, has consolidated its market position further. In the FY
2001-02, Tektronix grew by 8 percent to record a total sales revenue of Rs 70.15
crore. This is a remarkable achievement, considering the fact that the industry
was witnessing a downturn. In fact, the company was able to beat its own
projected sales expectations by over 2 percent. One of the supporting reasons
has been that the US defense sanctions got lifted. It is now able to introduce
at least 10 new products for sale in India, post the lift on sanctions.

One thing certain about Tektronix is that it is very committed to service the
Indian market, and views India as a base for engineering resources for its
global product development. Tektronix consolidated its position as a focused
player in T&M by focussing on the space of communications (connected
computers and wireless) and Internet. This approach saw Tektronix concentrating
on SDH/PDH analyzers, protocol testers, network monitoring systems, optical test
systems, wireless communication analyzers, OTDRs, and BTS field tools, besides
its oscilloscopes. As a result, it was able to make significant wins from AirTel,
Reliance, C-DOT, Trillium, Prasar Bharti, BEL, MRO-Tek, and Sahara TV. Tektronix
sees a good future in the educational segment too. Initially present at the
micro-level, today it has expanded to products at the macro-level.
