In the fiscal 2001-02, HFCL Infotel did pretty well both in terms of
subscriber base as well as revenues. The company grew by 509 percent in terms of
revenues, clocking a revenue of Rs 80 crore. On the subscriber front, it added
51,674 subscribers, bringing the overall tally to 65,000. Plans are on to add
100,000 subscribers by the end of this fiscal. The company has significantly
expanded its service in the state. Ludhiana is the most lucrative city for
Infotel. WLL service is available in Chandigarh, Ludhiana, Jullundhur, and
Amritsar. Plans are there to launch WLL services in eight more towns.

The company has deployed around 1,500 km of OFC in the state and intends to
deploy an additional 100 km in the current fiscal. In terms of investment, the
company had invested around Rs 1,000 crore till March 2002, and plans to invest
another Rs 350 crore. On the CDMA front, it invested around Rs 100 crore in the
fiscal 2001-02. The company has a subscriber base of 11,000 in fixed wireless
and 20,000 in limited mobility services.

HFCL Infotel had installed 32 VPTs by the end of fiscal 2001-02. By the end
of June 2002, it had installed 527 VPTs, of which CDMA accounted for 424,
CorDect for 47, and GSM for 56.

subscriber base of 350 (leased line and ISDN) and an Internet user base of
around 3,000.
