Satyam Computer Services, during the fiscal 2001-02, recorded a total
business of Rs 86 crore from the communications arena. This business comes from
its telecom vertical business unit, focused on NMS, OSS, Telecom Systems
Integration (TSI), soft switches, telephony services, ISP/ASP monitoring and
maintenance services, products and enterprise integration, custom applications
for mobile computing platforms, and 3G application development.

Satyam’s
network and system integration unit is focusing on vertical business sectors,
such as telecom, manufacturing, banking and finance. It focuses on turnkey
solutions for these sectors, primarily addressing the networking and operating
platforms.

Satyam has developed applications and products in the area of mobile
wireless computing, desktop videoconferencing, call center systems, and related
computer-integrated telephony. Most of these applications are for client/server
environments. It has experience in developing embedded systems for home
automation, small appliance controls and communication subsystems such as modems
and device drivers. It is also developing new device drivers, applications using
relational on-line analytical processing. Satyam acquired the software services
business of Satyam Infoway. It also de-risked its geographic focus and
concentrated on relationship management.
