SWOT |
STRENGTH DAMA expertise WEAKNESS OPPORTUNITY THREAT |
During last fiscal, Telstra V-Comm did business worth Rs
39.43 crore, thereby registering a growth of 93 percent over the previous year’s
turnover of Rs 20.34 crore. It implemented the Ludhiana Stock Exchange project
for online trading infrastructure expansion, Birla 3M corporate WAN, the ICNET
satcom project of ONGC, and the warehouse connect project of LG Electronics.
Though it has been very strong as a DAMA VSAT network deployer, it is now
shifting its focus to TDMA VSATs. The case for DAMA also became weak as the
dropping cost of leased lines became a threat to it. On the other hand, Telstra
V-Comm put efforts on becoming a communication service provider for the
e-commerce, and ASP markets.
As Telstra’s Indian strategy come under question, (with the Australian
company’s exit from Modi Telstra) it becomes all the more important for it to
show its seriousness in India by focusing more on Telstra V-Comm. This VSAT
company with its bandwidth experience has a significant role to play in the
coming years.
