Rajan Bharti Mittal conferred Leonardo International Prize 2011

Comitato Leonardo - Italian Quality Committee, a leading industry association of Italy, has conferred the 'Leonardo International Prize 2011' on Rajan Bharti Mittal, vice chairman & managing director, Bharti Enterprises.

The award was given to Rajan Bharti Mittal by the Italian President Giorgio Napolitano. He is the first Indian to receive this award, which is considered the most prestigious honor by the Association. In addition, Mr. Mittal has also been inducted as an Honorary Member of the Association.

The 'Leonardo International Prize' honors business leaders and leading personalities who have contributed to the strengthening of bilateral relations with Italy in economic, cultural or technological arena.

Comitato Leonardo - Italian Quality Committee was instituted in 1993 by Sergio Pininfarina and Gianni Agnelli along with the Italian Institute for Foreign Trade and the Association of Italian Industries to promote excellence of Italian businesses across the world and currently the Association represents 150 Members amongst entrepreneurs, artists, scientists and cultural advocates.

Past recipients of the Leonardo International Prize include: Zhan Chunxian, chairman, Zoomlion, Peoples Republic of China (2010); Katsuhiko Machida, chairman, Sharp, Japan (2009); Mikhail Kusnirovich, president & CEO, Bosco Di Ciliegi, Russia (2009); and Luiz Fernando Furlan, co–chairman, Brasil Foods S.A., Brazil (2008).
