Ciena the network specialist and AXIANS, the network integration and communications brand of VINCI Energies collaborate with QSC, German telecommunications operator has selected Ciena's Carrier Ethernet Solutions (CES) for two major network projects.
This agreement will expand QSC's national wireless network, including the introduction of several platforms from Ciena's Carrier Ethernet Solutions portfolio to rapidly roll out scalable, cost-effective Ethernet business services to the operator's enterprise customers.
QSC will deploy Ciena's Carrier Ethernet solutions, including the 5305 Service Aggregation Switch and 3940 Service Delivery Switch, to expand its network's reach throughout Germany. Building on the operator's existing Carrier Ethernet network (based on Ciena's LE-311v and 3940/3960 Service Delivery Switches), the platforms are being deployed in all 25 German cities covered by QSC's network, across wireless (microwave) links. The transport-class packet network will provide the resiliency and ease of scalability allowing QSC to continue to grow and diversify its customer base.
The Ciena-based Carrier Ethernet architecture deployed by QSC supports thousands of individual services — up to Gigabit Ethernet private line and virtual private line — ensuring that SLA requirements for parameters such as throughput, latency, jitter or packet loss are safely met. This allows QSC to meet Quality of Service (QoS) requirements from a wider base of customers, said a press release.
