Polycom to Start its India Operations

With a view to have local presence in the Indian market, Polycom, provider of video, voice, data and web conferencing and collaboration solutions, has decided to launch its India operations with head office in Delhi. It currently operates through various channel partners in the country. The company is also targeting more than $7.5 million of revenue from the country this year.

Dayana Poller, Sales Director, Polycom said, “ I’m here in India to recruit professionals for our Indian operations.” She added that it is expecting more than $15million of revenue from Asia-Pacific region wherein India would contribute around 50 percent of that.

The company would initially set up its office in Delhi followed by Bangalore, Chennai and Mumbai. It is currently operating in India through eight partners that include Tata Telecom, Godrej, Siemens, Neutron, etc. It is also planning to strengthen its channel structure with the addition of some major channel partners. Poller also did not rule out the possibility of further acquisitions in India. “Negotiations are also going on with various companies for acquisitions and soon we will announce it,” she added. US based Polycom provides audio and video conferencing equipments, develops, manufactures and markets a range of affordable voice and video communication endpoints, video management software, web collaboration software, multi-network gateways, and multi-point conferencing solutions. Around 50 percent of its revenues comes from government, healthcare, education and military.
