Oppo tests Reno 6 Series Smartphones on Reliance Jio 5G Lab

Smartphone company Oppo India on Wednesday said that it has conducted a 5G SA network trial for the Reno 6 Series in collaboration with Reliance Jio.

In a statement, the company said, "the trial for the Oppo Reno 6 Series yielded highly positive results". The company has started selling the said smartphone from 20th July, in the ₹29,900-₹39,990 price range.

The smartphone brand also said that the new phone models support up to 13 5G bands. This means that it will support most of the bands approved by the government for use in commercial networks. Oppo India Vice-President and Head (R&D) Tasleem Arif said that OPPO India is working relentlessly to accelerate 5G deployment and accessibility.

He said, "our 5G standalone network trial for Reno 6 Series with Jio is part of our in-depth research in the 5G era towards ensuring a better experience for the users". He further said that the phone getting validated over Jio's 5G SA network is significant for Oppo. The company also said that it has been laying the foundation for 5G trials through its 5G Innovation Lab. The statement also read that the company will seek to give every adopter "a true 5G device experience".

Notably, Oppo has launched 6 5G devices in India across price segments in 2021. The company had also earlier announced an investment of over ₹2,200 crore to manufacture 5G devices in Greater Noida. "Going forward, Oppo is set to make further investments in the fast-growing Indian market, contribute more technological innovation to the industry, and bring better products and services to its customers," the statement said.

In 2020, Oppo also established a 5G Innovation Lab at its Hyderabad R&D center to develop core product technologies for its 5G connected ecosystem.
