Oppo joins hands with Ericsson and Qualcomm to deploy 5G enterprise network slicing

Oppo, a Chinese smartphone manufacturer, announced that it has tested a pre-commercial 5G enterprise network slicing solution in Partnership with Ericsson.

Oppo teams up with Ericsson, Qualcomm for 5G enterprise network slicing

Oppo, a Chinese smartphone manufacturer, announced that it has successfully tested a pre-commercial 5G enterprise network slicing solution in Partnership with Ericsson, a Swedish telecom equipment provider, and Qualcomm Technologies, a US-based chipmaker.

The companies demonstrated application and network traffic segmentation using a pre-commercial 5G enterprise network slicing solution using the Oppo Find X65 smartphone, which is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chipset with Snapdragon X65 Modem-RF system and Ericsson 5G core to support user device route selection from Dynamic Network Slicing Selection Capability and Policy Control (URSP) and 5G RAN Slicing Solutions.

Xia Yang, Senior Director of Oppo’s Carrier Product Line, commented:“5G enterprise network slicing is the key to realizing 5G-differentiated applications,  Oppo will leverage its strengths in innovation and collaboration across the the tech ecosystem to advance the commercialization of 5G enterprise slicing technology."

According to an official release," During this initial demonstration of the solution, Oppo collaborated with Ericsson and Qualcomm Technologies to connect the core network, wireless network, and chip module."

Monica Jethzon, Head of Solution Area Packet Core, Ericsson’s Business Area Cloud Software and Services, said : "This solution, from Oppo and Qualcomm Technologies Designed in partnership with and underpinned by Ericsson’s dual-mode 5G core and 5G RAN slicing technologies, CSP provides a foundation to provide more tailored 5G services to enterprises,”

The triad, Oppo, Ericsson, and Qualcomm had last year revealed that Vodafone's 5G Standalone(SA) network had been commercialized in Germany.
