OneWeb, a company well-known for its Low Earth Orbit (LEO) satellite technology, runs a constellation of 648 satellites with the goal of creating a global communication network. LEO satellites provide broadband Internet access with reduced latency than conventional geostationary satellites, resulting in effective network services with latencies of less than 100 ms. The latencies of GEO-based networks are 500–700 ms in contrast.

OneWeb's LEO technology is already in use in Europe and Canada, offering Internet service providers and mobile network operators affordable satellite connectivity services. OneWeb now aims to provide India with dependable and economical satellite communication through the country's growth throughout the region. Soon, other competitors can be expected to enter the fray, going head-to-head with OneWeb to provide satellite internet services in India.
