Nokia won 'Golden Peacock Environment Management' award in 2010

Golden Peacock Environment Management' award for the year 2010 instituted by the World Environment Foundation is awarded for Nokia, Finnish handset maker. The award was received by Nokia Senior Global Campaign Manager, Kirsty Britz on behalf of Nokia India. As many as 380 organisations had contested for the award. Parameters for selection comprised environmental governance, legal compliance, training and awareness on environment protection, monitoring of environmental performance and clean technologies.
This award intends to encourage and recognise effective implementation of environment management system and continual improvement. "Environment management is one of our organisational cornerstones and therefore is an important part of all our business activities. Getting an award of such high prestige in our first application effort itself has reinforced our belief that we have chosen the right path and will continue to take our GREEN journey to new levels of success.", Nokia Chennai Factory Director Prakash Katama said.
