Nokia launches 2 Asha series smartphones in Indian market

Nokia launched two new smartphones under its Asha series in the Indian market. The models - Asha 305 and Asha 311 are full-touch dual-SIM (GSM+GSM) smartphones, and comes with Nokia's own proprietory web browser. The browser enables the user to compress the download data thus helping faster download speed.

The Nokia Asha 311 phone comes with scratch resistant capacitive touch screen with polarization filters ensuring users get better touch experience. This model also features a 3.2MP camera and pre-installed Nokia Maps, in addition to the 15 level pre-bundled version of Angry Birds.

Weighing 95g, the Asha 311 phone has an internal memory of 256MB (approximately 100MB free user memory), which is expandable up to 32GB using a microSD card.The phone, which is engineered with a 1110 mAh battery, is said to offer 14 hours of talktime on 2G network and 6 hours on 3G network.

The phone models were launched by popular India racing star Karun Chandhok.

“I spend most of my time on the road and this is a great device for me to stay connected with my friends and loved ones .Being a gaming enthusiast, I am impressed by the EA Games package on these devices, Nokia again has launched a winner true to its legacy,” said Karun Chandhok.

The Asha 305 features a 3-inch WQVGA resistive touch screen with 240 X 400 pixels resolution. It has a 2MP camera with 4X zoom, 10MB built-in storage and microSD support for up to 32GB storage. And it also packs a 2GB microSD card.

The Asha 305 and Asha 311 phones are priced at Rs 5029 and Rs 7139 respectively and would be available in the market from August 12.

Previously, Nokia had also launched Asha 202, a dual-SIM 'touch and type' phone, priced at Rs. 4,149 in the Indian market. The phone featured a 2.4 inch resistive touchscreen with a traditional alpha-numeric keypad.
