NIS Glonass sets India Office

NIS Glonass, a satellite navigation player is planning to start its India operation in the Ist Quarter of 2012. The company is planning to set up its office in Mumbai, Delhi, and Chandigarh. Also on the plan is to set up experience centers in these cities for showcasing solutions relevant to different verticals.

The India office will be headed by Vladimir Finov says Alexander Gurko, CEO, NIS Glonass.

For its India operations, the company is focusing on central government, state governments, police, and utility vertical.

Speaking to Voice&Data, Alexander Gurko said, ''Initially, the company is focusing to participate in government projects related to passenger information system, fleet management system, and police modernization.''

The company is also planning to expand its India operation and is looking at turnkey providers focusing on telematics deployment in different states. The state partners will focus on installation, commissioning, support and maintenance of products and solutions related to telematics for the Indian market.

The company has telematics solutions catering to Business 2 Government (B2G), Business 2 Business (B2B), and Business 2 Consumer (B2G) segment for the Indian market says Vladimir Finov, director program, Glonass India.

The solution is already developed, proven, and deployed which can be customized for the Indian market he added.

The company has done pilots with Glonis Solution and HBL Power Systems in the Indian market related to fleet management system.

For embedded system, the company has signed up with Tata Elxsi, a company focusing on customize design solutions for companies across the globe. Qualcomm, Broadcom, ST Microelectronics, and Ubox supply chipsets which supports GPS location using NIS Glonass through smartphones and mobile phones.

NIS Glonass, is a Russian space based system with 23 operational satellites for navigation information system. The company has invested close to US $4 billion for building on-orbit satellite for navigation.
