NEC Corporation has launched indoor LTE Femtocell base stations for telecom carriers, achieving high-volume wireless communications in indoor areas such as offices and homes.
The base stations connect to a telecom carrier's core network through an indoor broadband connection, while the connections between the base stations and terminals occur over LTE.
They also feature plug-and-play functionality that configures the device simply by connecting it to the broadband line, without the need for any initial settings.
Available in the second quarter of the year 2012, the base stations automatically control radio wave interference, ensuring high-quality communications, and also enabling users to build high-speed, high-volume communications environments indoors.
''NEC plays a central role as a board member of the Small Cell Forum, a gathering of Femtocell-related telecom carriers and vendors, and for three years running has received awards from the Forum in recognition of its efforts in the field,'' said Tadatoshi Fujiwara, senior VP, NEC Europe.
